A gift for me and mine(2020) is a reflection on a past work, Non-binary body seeking baby to womb with(2020), and serves as a stepping stone for where the next iteration might take us. Created with my children in mind, A gift for me and mine is my acknowledgement of the relationship I have slowly built with each one of my babies that has since died.

This hand-crafted loveseat is designed to express my unwavering love for my children. Using an old-growth pine, salvaged from a house being torn down in Chicago, and dating back to roughly the 1890’s, this bench is for all of my children past, present, and future. My loveseat is just as much for the children that will never grow up to sit on its throne as it is for those who will occupy it as a more permanent perch.

To my children: I love every leaf on your head.
